About Me
I have dedicated over 20 years to teaching within the primary education sector, working with children aged 4–12. Throughout my career, I have helped thousands of children develop their confidence, overcome challenges, and reach their potential. Alongside teaching, I have tutored children and teenagers for many years, providing personalised support tailored to each individual's needs.
For over five years, I have also been a qualified Play Therapist, enabling me to support children's emotional wellbeing alongside their educational development.
My professional training includes trauma, attachment, autism, anxiety, Makaton, dyslexia, dyscalculia, working memory, attention and behaviour management, allowing me to provide a holistic approach to supporting children and young people.
My Story
In 2014, I began tutoring with a simple aim: to provide individualised learning and compassionate support for children who were struggling. Every child learns differently, and I wanted to create a service that recognised and celebrated those differences.
Throughout my teaching career, I found the greatest satisfaction in supporting children with additional needs. I trained as a SENCo and later became an Assistant Head, advocating for children and ensuring their voices were heard while helping families access the support they needed.
In 2019, I moved to the West Country and took the opportunity to reflect on how I could make an even greater difference.
Over the years, I saw many children grappling with their mental health. Although they were experiencing genuine
emotional difficulties, many did not meet the thresholds for CAMHS support. It became clear that these children still
needed someone to help them understand and process their feelings.
This inspired me to train as a Play Therapist. Play therapy provides children with a safe, supportive space to express emotions that they may not yet have the words to describe. It is particularly valuable for younger children, those with communication difficulties, or children who find it challenging to understand and regulate their emotions.
Since 2019, I have worked as a SENCo in several schools, continuing to support children with a wide range of additional needs. I have also been a foster carer. This experience, together with my specialist foster care training, has given me an even deeper understanding of the impact of trauma and the importance of providing children with safe, nurturing relationships in which they can heal and thrive.
Although I had hoped to qualify as a Play Therapist sooner, my training was inevitably delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Like so many others, my plans had to adapt during this challenging period. However, the additional time only strengthened my commitment to developing the knowledge and skills needed to provide the highest quality therapeutic support for children and young people.
Today, I combine my extensive experience in education with specialist therapeutic training to support children both academically and emotionally. My goal is to help every child feel understood, valued and empowered to thrive—at school, at home and in everyday life.
What next?
Bringing together my experience in education, play therapy and fostering has shaped the way I support children today. This journey continues to evolve, and I look forward to welcoming families who are seeking compassionate, personalised support for their children.
